Welcome to Prayer Times Plus (version 2.0). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our app works, what is stored on your device, and what limited data may be sent to our servers when you choose to use certain optional features.
1. Information Storage
1.1 Local Storage (Primary)
Most of your data is stored locally on your device, including:
- Prayer Times: Your selected city and prayer time preferences
- Prayer Tracking: Your daily prayer completion records and streaks
- Quran Progress: Downloaded surahs and reading progress
- App Settings: Language, notifications, and customization preferences
- Tasbih Counter: Your dhikr counting history
- Ramadan Tracker: Your fasting and worship records
1.2 Optional Cloud Data (Firebase)
If you use optional online features, limited data is stored on Google Firebase (Realtime Database) to operate those features:
- Suggestions: The text you submit, a random device identifier, device type, app version, and language — so we can read your feedback and reply in the app
- Push notifications: An Expo push token linked to your device identifier, if you allow notifications — so we can send prayer reminders or admin announcements you opt into
- Device heartbeat: Anonymous device ID, platform, device model name, OS version, app version, and last active time — to know how many users are online (not your name, email, or phone)
We do not require an account or login. Firebase is operated by Google; see Google Firebase Privacy.
1.3 No Other Cloud Storage
Prayer tracking, Quran downloads, prayer times, dhikr counters, and app settings are not uploaded to our servers. They remain on your device unless you use the optional features above.
2. Permissions We Request
2.1 Location Permission (Optional)
- Why: To calculate accurate Qibla direction and find nearby mosques
- When: Only when you use the Qibla compass or mosque finder features
- Control: You can deny this permission and still use all other features
- Privacy: Location data is used only for calculations and never stored or shared
2.2 Notification Permission (Optional)
- Why: To send you prayer time reminders
- When: Only if you enable notifications in settings
- Control: You can disable notifications anytime in app or device settings
- Privacy: Notifications are scheduled locally on your device
2.3 Screen Time / Prayer Focus Lock (Optional — iOS & Android)
- Why: To temporarily block apps you choose during prayer time until you mark prayer complete (optional feature)
- iOS: Uses Apple’s Screen Time API (Family Controls). You must grant Screen Time permission. Blocked app choices and lock state are stored on your device only
- Android: Uses usage access and overlay permissions you approve. Blocked app list is stored locally
- Privacy: We do not receive your Screen Time data, app usage history, or which apps you block. Apple/Google process permissions on your device
2.4 Storage Permission (Optional)
- Why: To save downloaded Quran audio files and share prayer images
- When: When you download Quran audio or share content
- Control: Required only for offline Quran access and sharing features
3. What We Do NOT Collect
We want to be clear about what we do NOT do:
- ❌ We do not require your name, email, or phone number to use the app
- ❌ We do not track your location continuously or store GPS history
- ❌ We do not access your contacts, photos, or messages
- ❌ We do not sell your data or display third-party ads
- ❌ We do not use third-party advertising or social media trackers
- ❌ We do not process or store FIB/bank payment details in the app (support is voluntary via your bank app)
4. How Features Work
4.1 Prayer Times
Prayer times are calculated locally on your device using astronomical algorithms based on your selected city. No internet connection required after initial setup.
4.2 Qibla Compass
Uses your device's GPS and compass sensors to calculate Qibla direction. All calculations are done locally on your device.
4.3 Quran Reader
Quran text and translations are included in the app. Audio files are downloaded to your device for offline listening. Nothing is uploaded or tracked.
4.4 AI Islamic Q&A
When you ask a question, it is sent to an AI service to generate an answer. Questions are not linked to your identity and are not stored permanently.
4.5 Prayer Tracking & Streaks
Your prayer completion records and streaks are stored locally on your device. This data is not uploaded unless you share a summary image yourself.
4.6 Prayer Focus Lock
When enabled, the app blocks selected apps during prayer windows using system APIs. Your blocked-app list, lock sessions, and oath completion state are stored locally. On iOS, a small app extension shares data with the main app through an Apple App Group on your device only.
4.7 Home Screen Widget
The prayer times widget reads times and city from shared on-device storage (App Group on iOS). Widget data is not sent to our servers.
4.8 Voluntary Developer Support (FIB)
Settings may show an optional link to support development via First Iraqi Bank (FIB). Payments happen entirely in the FIB app or your bank — we do not receive, store, or process payment information inside Prayer Times Plus.
4.9 Send Suggestion
If you send a suggestion from Settings, the text you write and basic device info (see Section 1.2) are stored on Firebase so our team can respond. Do not include sensitive personal information in suggestions.
5. Children's Privacy
Prayer Times Plus is suitable for users of all ages, including children. We do not ask children for names or contact details. Optional online features use anonymous device identifiers only.
Parents can confidently allow their children to use the app for learning about Islam and tracking their prayers.
6. Your Control
6.1 Data Management
- View Data: All your data is accessible through the app settings
- Delete Data: Clear app data through device settings or uninstall the app
- Export Data: Share your prayer tracking as an image
6.2 Complete Privacy
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control. Uninstalling the app removes all data permanently.
7. Internet Usage
The app uses internet connection only for:
- Downloading Quran text/audio (optional)
- AI Islamic Q&A answers (optional)
- Mosque map search (optional)
- Checking for app updates (optional)
- Submitting suggestions and receiving admin replies (optional)
- Registering for push notifications (optional)
- Zakat rate data (optional)
All core features work offline. Internet is never required for prayer times, Qibla direction, or prayer tracking.
8. Security
Your data security is ensured by:
- Prayer and personal worship data stored locally using secure device storage
- Firebase connections use HTTPS; only minimal data needed for suggestions/notifications
- No account passwords to manage
- Regular app updates to fix security issues
9. Changes to Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted in the app with an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Islamic Values
As an Islamic app, we uphold Islamic principles:
- Privacy (Sitr): We respect your privacy as an Islamic right
- Trust (Amanah): We are transparent about how the app works
- Honesty (Sidq): We clearly state what data is stored and where

Religious Content Disclaimer:
While we strive for accuracy in all Islamic content, including prayer times, Quran translations, and AI-generated answers, we recommend verifying important religious matters with qualified Islamic scholars.
Prayer times are calculated using standard astronomical methods but may vary slightly. For critical matters, consult your local mosque or religious authority.
